ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrive in Kigale
What we’ll be doing today: Arrive at Kigali airport. Take a city tour.
Where we’ll be sleeping:
Budget: Golf Hills Residence (B&B)
Luxury: Hotel des Mille Collines (B&B)

Day 2: Travel to Volcanoes National Park
What we’ll be doing today: After breakfast, visit Gisozi Genocide Memorial museum in Kigali, a museum where victims of the 1994 Rwandan Genocide were buried. Have lunch and then drive to Volcanoes National Park.
Where we’ll be sleeping:
Budget: Hotel Muhabura or Hotel Gorillas Volcanoes (B&B)
Luxury: Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (B&B)

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
What we’ll be doing today: After breakfast go gorilla trekking (subject to availability of permits at the time of booking). You will spend one hour face to face with one of the most endangered creatures in the world. Return to hotel.
Where we’ll be sleeping:
Budget: Hotel Muhabura or Hotel Gorillas Volcanoes (B&B)
Luxury: Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (B&B)

Day 4: Travel to Gisenyi-Rubayu
What we’ll be doing today: Do a nature walk or visit the golden monkeys. Drive to the lakeside city of Gisenyi (Lake Kivu) for the night.
Where we’ll be sleeping:
Budget: Ubumwe Hotel or Hotel Gorillas Volcanoes (B&B)
Luxury: Lake Kivu Serena Hotel (B&B)

Day 5: Lake Kivu
What we’ll be doing today: Relax on Lake Kivu, go for a bot ride to see the island and hot springs.
Where we’ll be sleeping:
Budget: Ubumwe Hotel or Hotel Gorillas Volcanoes (B&B)
Luxury: Lake Kivu Serena Hotel (B&B)

Day 6: Drive to Nyungwe Forest
What we’ll be doing today: Drive to Nyungwe Forest.
Where we’ll be sleeping:
Budget: Gisakura Guesthouse (B&B)
Luxury: Nyungwe Forest Lodge (B&B)

Day 7: Nyungwe Forest
What we’ll be doing today: Walk through the forest in search of monkeys and birds, do the waterfall trail or track chimpanzees. Did you know? Nyungwe has chimpanzees and 13 other monkey species, making it one of east Africa’s biggest forests.
Where we’ll be sleeping:
Budget: Gisakura Guesthouse (B&B)
Luxury: Nyungwe Forest Lodge (B&B)

Day 8: Butare to Kigali
What we’ll be doing today: Drive to Butare where you can visit the National Museum and Nyanza Hill. Proceed to Kigali.
Where we’ll be sleeping:
Budget: Golf Hills Residence (B&B)
Luxury: Hotel des Mille Collines (B&B)

 
ACCOMMODATION
Our packages are based on a accommodations in a B&B (bed and breakfast) whether you decide on either the budget or luxury lodging. However, if you want full board (with breakfast, lunch and dinner), a supplemental fee of $20 will be added per person for all budget accommodations, and a supplemental fee of $40 will be added per person for all luxury accommodations. This fee would be added on top of the nightly cost of the hotel accommodation.
